Link building is considered to be the most important criteria for ranking well in any search engine. Search Engines gives a lot of weight to websites that have quality web pages linking to them. Search Engines consider this to be a vote for that website; normally that’s the index page or home page of the website.
The strategy for making web pages vote for your page is termed as link building strategy in search engine optimization. There are basically two types of links, one is back link and the other is reciprocal link. The difference is simple, in back link a web page votes for the other and in reciprocal link both web pages vote for each other.
With times search engines are realizing the misuse of link building webmasters do to get on top in search engines. Like high page rank web pages started selling back links at a good amount and webmasters started trading reciprocal links.
I think before starting to build links an SEO needs to first understand the product, like when the company is into selling software’s then first try locating the geographical market on internet for it. Let’s elaborate this with an example; a company was into selling online software tools to clients in US. Here the target market was US. So it was very important to have back links that could provide them weight in U.S data centers of the search engines because people searching for these products in US would be connecting to the nearest data center of the search engine and as we all know no 2 data center displays the same results.
The reciprocal link page had PR of 4 so the webmaster was in a decent position of selection before providing a link back.

The criteria’s set were:.
Websites that had their subject related to software industry.

Websites that had their reciprocal link page PR of 3 and above

Website needs to be a US based website

I know some SEO’s would say that with such criteria’s the link building process would be very slow, however, no webmaster would like the search engine to suddenly push their web pages ranking from 1st page to say 10th or so. With the above strategy your website reflects that it recommends only quality website from the same industry that could also be helpful for their visitors.

For quality back link a webmaster can always register their website with highly rated directories, industry specific directories worldwide. The list is something more you try to find more you get.

These factors such as web pages from your region votes for your web page, web pages related to your industry votes for your web page are something no search engines would ever consider spamming, not until they stop giving weight to links from other web pages.
Always remember for a search engine every web page is a unique destination and is identified not only from the title, description, keywords tag, H1, H2, contents but also by how many web pages vote for this page, how many web pages from the same industry vote from them, how many web pages from the same region vote for your web page etc. I could only name these many and always try to fix them where ever I perform my expertise.

Smart SEO Strategies For Quick Link Building

The better the number of backlinks you have the greater your website has a chance of ranking in search engines. This stands true even today but its not just links rather quality backlinks which can earn you first page placements in major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. All this will depend upon the smart SEO strategy which you adopt and besides some good links you could also earn some Google Juice which will enable your website to get some wonderful page ranks which could go a long way towards improving the marketability of your website.

Let me tell you inbound links have more importance as compared to outbound links so just follow some of my SEO tips for building links and your website could top the charts of search engines and attract visitors to your website.

Given below are some of my personal SEO strategies which I adopt for creating backlinks for my website.

Directory Submission

This is an old age SEO technique for gaining backlinks which seems to have lost some sheen in today’s scenario but you can bank upon it for gaining some harmless links. Though free links can take a few months to get accepted but believe me it will worth the wait.

Article Submission

Another good SEO technique for building links which could get cached within a short period of time as compared to directories. Just opt for some good article directories and you could end up with around three links per article. Please refrain from self promotional articles or your efforts could go down the drain. Thumb rule is to write general articles and you could end up gaining some valuable links for your website.

Blog comments

Once in a while you can post some intelligent comments on high PR blogs which can earn you some page rank juice besides links also. If implemented smartly this SEO strategy can get you some high page rank by the next update.

Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking sites are another way to increase your link count but don’t overdo it or you might end up with their wrath. Over a period of time several spam sites have used social bookmarking websites as a dumping ground for their links but if you act within restraint you could use them as a way to give a push to your link count. Another smart SEO strategy but please don’t overdo it or you could get penalized.

Link Exchange

This SEO technique can also be used but it should not be overdone and you should only end up exchanging links with websites having a PR same as your website or higher than it as only then it will prove beneficial for your website.

Trade Links

Though search engines don’t approve of such technique and label it under black hat SEO technique but one or two links purchased from websites of repute could do well for the ranking and PR of your website.

You will often find as well that some of the websites will also want to have their link put onto your website to up their performance but obviously that is up to you if you would want to do that.

This is one of the downsides you do have to be careful of, even though you want as many people to advertise your site as possible, make sure you don’t have to many back links on your site that take you out of your site altogether (also known as reciprocal links) as people are then being directed away from your website, therefore are less likely to buy something.

Every now and again check on the links that you are promoting on your website to make sure they are still functional, the last thing you want is for someone to click on one to find there is nothing there as it doesn’t look good on your part. But also make sure your own site is functional and up to date for the same reason, plus you could be turning potential customers away!

You will get the occasional website emailing you to ask if you can set up a back link to their website but make sure that you don’t accept anyone as some won’t be relevant to your site. But again send out link requests to sites relevant to yours as often as possible to make sure you are up to date and back linking with as many websites as possible.

Something else you should avoid is adopting unethical methods to cheat your link partners as that will then cause other websites not to link to you therefore meaning being ethical gains better results.

You can include your links within articles and blogs, which are also good to get you recognised and ranked in the search engines as you are putting useful content on the internet. Also look at other people’s relevant blogs and post a comment giving more information and commenting on their blog, then at the end put your link on and people will read your comment and hopefully click on your link!

Sign up to directories but just be careful not to sign up to any ones look for ones that have good editorial reviews as some search engines have been devaluing them as they add everyone and anyone to their directory. One of the ways to see if they are a good directory is if you have to go through a review process as they obviously check the websites before promoting them, which means they don’t have any websites so don’t be surprised if they don’t all accept you as some generally don’t.

Finally you can always have a go at doing a video on You Tube and adding your link to that, it’s just a matter of experimenting to see what works best for you.
